V –Excel Educational Trust is an organization working with persons with special needs for the last twenty years in the city of Chennai. One of the significant areas of our work has been spreading awareness and helping the community understand that people with disabilities are in some ways, challenged in some skills, and may look and behave differently but there is a lot that unites them with everyone else in this world. And that is something we must never forget and always trust. So, like everyone else, they enjoy dancing, singing and having fun!
“Tumbak Tumba” is the coming together of two wonderful musicians from Chennai, the charismatic pianist Anil Srinivasan and the talented musician Vedanth Bharadwaj who are going to weave this evening with the Blue Blue Sky Choir which comprises of children and young adults with special needs from V -Excel, and their teachers. For an hour, in a unique sing along session we bring to you songs of different lands, languages, famous universal favourites of children and some original compositions. Along with the music from the two maestros, you will watch the children who can sing in many different ways. Some through their voices, some through their clapping and stamping, some with their smiles and some through their silence too!
In this world after the pandemic, coming together in any way is a blessing and we are delighted to bring this performance to a live audience in the open air auditorium of Olcott Memorial School in Besant Nagar. It is a free show and we are hoping to see children of all ages and those young at heart who want to just rock, flap and sing to join us on the 4 of December 2021. Inclusion has its place in society and in schools where children with special needs co-exist there is a more humane approach to life. Children with special needs also enjoy and need not be receivers always. There are many hidden learning and lessons on life that one may learn by taking this road and together we can create a more sensitive society.
Miss not the unique evening of music, rhythm & song for children, on the occasion of World Disability Day.
