Sakthi
Soundar Rajan known for his quest to come up with themes that are totally off
the beaten track has woven yet another innovative tale that belongs to the ‘science
fiction’ genre! Though the M.G.R. starrer, ‘Kalaiarasi’ holds the distinction
of being the first space film in Tamil, this is one stands out as this is a
full-fledged in its thematic content as well as in its presentation and it
won’t be out of place to hail this as the 1st space film of its kind
in the entire country!
Given
the magnitude of the production & the time taken to make it, full credit to
the producer & the director for coming up with such a film most of which is
good enough! Of course, there are some glitches in the script and the execution
leaves some more to be sought but the overall picture is good and the efforts
need to be lauded!
Jayam
Ravi known for his knack in dealing with such physically demanding roles, has
done a commendable job! Thanks to the director for not exploring the love angle
between him and Nivetha even though there is scope! Vasu (Jayam Ravi) is a
single father deeply attached to his little son, Ravi (Aarav Ravi) and would
stop at nothing when it comes to doing things for the sake of his son!
Officials
at the Defense Space Division headed by the Operations Head Mahendran
(Jayaprakash) are in a fix when they learn that an asteroid is all set to hit
the country and they may have to steal a missile from a space station to
prevent & destroy the asteroid!
Aided
by his deputies, Raghuram (Vincent Asokan) & Swathi (Nivetha Pethuraj),
Mahendran solicits the services of an escape artist Vasu who is now in prison!
The
trio approaches him for the task of flying to space along with the two of them
after relieving him of the prison formalities!
Joining
them all are Venkat (Ramesh Thilak) & Appu (Arjunan) both of who
accompanists of Vasu in technical matters.
How
the mission gets accomplished is the interesting rest. In the process, a black
sheep in the Defense Division is also identified!
D.Imman’s
background score has worked out well to maintain the film’s pace!
A
commendable experiment in Tamil cinema!
