"Getting
money for voting is as sinful as giving for it"- this quote from Ulaganayagan
Kamal haasan is very well carved in the minds of the general public and 'Thappu
Thanda' which is all set to be released on September 8th has taken a leaf out
of this.Release timing can't get better
for a movie with elections and election campaign as it's background. The
general public are either in a mood of recalling their previous experience
casting of votes or bracing themselves for a future voting.
Debutant
director Srikantan who is a product of late legendary Balu Mahendra's 'Cinema Pattarai'
is all set for the release of his movie 'Thappu Thanda' coming Friday(
September 8th). The value and the reception for well drafted dark comedy and
thrillers like 'Maanagaram' and 'Joker' got, stands testimony to this
genre which 'Thappu Thanda' also belongs to. Speaking about 'Thappu Thanda'
director Srikantan says , "I worked on this script for almost a year. We
did a lot of research for the script because this kind of script should not be
made without any proper R & D. This is a proper dark comedy thriller set
against the backdrop of an election campaign and the 'cash for votes' culture
that is prevailing nowadays. The movie focusses on three separate stories. I
really hope this dark comedy clicks among the audience. Sathya, Shweta Gai and
Udhay have given it all playing the lead roles. Mime Gopi, Ajay Gosh and John
Vijay have played very important roles. Our whole team is happy and upbeat with
what the people are going to watch from September 8th".
